Comfrey (Symphytum officinale), known to generations of herbalists as "knitbone," has long been a treasured herb for the body's outer structure. Rich in allantoin and mucilage, it has traditionally been made into poultices, salves and infused oils to comfort bumps, bruises, tired joints and skin in need of care.

Safety: Do not take comfrey internally. It contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that can harm the liver. Do not apply to open wounds or broken skin. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
